OMG, Franck! Festival

Früsch: Decisive Pink, Genevieve Artadi, Josephine Foster, African Head Charge

Auch ihre Kollegin meint zum Kölner Studio: “It was very exciting to step into the 'synth- dome' as I think of it. I can't remember all the synths we used, but definitely one of the Prophets, a modular, a Juno, a Jupiter, a Rodeo, a synth with a bee on it and some synth from the 1980s that Kate knew about.”

So steht in den Liner Notes: “My previous albums were made at home, so this was a big jump”, she explains. “But I felt like it was the right move for these songs and, thankfully, it ended up better than I imagined. El Desierto is a big, beautiful wooden house in a forest designed for music, with everything we could possibly need. There was a camp vibe because we all slept there, had meals together, played on the crazy instruments everywhere, jammed and practiced day and night, and partied in the kitchen after sessions.”

Die Liner Notes fügen an: "everything is music and [...] our daily life is a sacred [...] in such a world [a] creaking door reveal[s] natural orchestras with wailing cats in service of melodic collaborations with Tennessee songbirds."

Über die Single heisst es: "All the drumming and the chanting, it took a while to do. I'm always meeting drummers, all over Ghana. The Fante, the Akim, the Ga, the Bolgatanga, all the tribes, and they all have their different drums. I try to learn as much as I can, and put it all together. It's like cooking, when you're blending all of the elements, like yam, banana, pumpkin, and the end taste, that's where it matters. That's how I look at music."
