TIMEZONES PODCAST-SERIE AUF RADIO X
Die Podcast-Reihe TIMEZONES erkundet die vielfältigen Realitäten von Künstler*innen und ihrer Praktiken weltweit und stellt die Frage: Was bedeutet es heute, in verschiedenen Ländern, Städten und Kontexten im Bereich Kultur und Kunst zu leben und zu arbeiten? Die Reise geht von Nairobi über Rio de Janeiro bis nach Beirut und Mount Makiling auf den Philippinen / die Ukraine und verarbeitet die Gedanken und Stimmungen der Künstler*innen, ihre sozialen, politischen und intellektuellen Realitäten und ihre(Lebens-) Philosophien zu künstlerischen Audiocollagen.
TIMEZONES spielt dabei mit Formaten und Inhalten: der Podcast bewegt sich zwischen Journalismus und Experiment, Dokumentation, Ethnografie, Fiktion, Klangkunst oder Improvisation. Georgrafische Grenzen, Zeitzonen, Genres und Praktiken sollen überschritten und mit neuen künstlerischen Formen des Austauschs, des Zuhörens und des Erzählens experimentiert werden. Gemeinsam mit lokalen Produzent*innen und Künstler*innen entstehen dabei sehr persönliche Portraits und aktuelle Geschichten aus Städten rund um den Globus, die einen sehr subjektiven Eindruck in das weltweite und aktuelle Musik-und Kunstgeschehen ermöglichen.
TIMEZONES ist ein gemeinsames Projekt des Goethe-Instituts und Norient, dem weltweiten Redaktionsnetzwerk für zeitgenössische Musik- und Medienkulturen.
Radio X ist neu als Partner mit an Bord: Als Weiterführung der im 2022 gestarteten Sendereihe airtime!, die künstlerischen Stimmen aus dem Globalen Süden und Osten Gehör verschafft, strahlen wir einmal im Monat eine Podcast-Folge aus.

The TIMEZONES podcast series plunges into the world of artists and their practices, asking: what does living and working in culture and the arts involve in different countries, cities, and contexts today? The experimental journey goes from Nairobi via Rio de Janeiro to Beirut and Mount Makiling in the Philippines/Ukraine and brings the he artists’ thoughts on their moods, their social, political, and intellectual realities and their philosophies (of life) into experimental audio collages.
The TIMEZONES podcasts run the gamut of formats and content, from straight journalism to experimental and documentary approaches, ethnography and fiction, sound art, and improvisation. The series endeavors to create new artistic forms of storytelling, listening and exchange across the boundaries of geography, time zones, genres, and practices. Together with local producers and artists, the podcast creates very personal portraits and current stories from cities around the globe, which allow a very subjective impression of the worldwide and current music and art scenes.
The Timezones Podcast Series is co-initiated and co-produced by the Goethe-Instituts and Norient, the worldwide platform and network for contemporary music and media cultures.
Radio X is now on board as a partner: As a continuation of the series airtime!, which was launched in 2022 and which makes artistic voices from the Global South and East heard, we broadcast a podcast episode once a month.

Leben neu denken im Ausstellungsraum Klingental
Die aktuellen Arbeiten von Till Langschied und Aebersold x Handberg widmen sich der Frage, wie Leben neu entstehen kann. Welche möglichen Lebensformen gibt es, ausser den uns bereits bekannten? Die Ausstellung X Æ-gen-c A-21 im Ausstellungsraum Klingental ist noch bis zum 6. Juni zu sehen. von Danielle Bürgin
21.06.01 Ausstellungsraum Klingental
Die aktuelle Ausstellung im Ausstellungsraumklingental lässt einem in neue Lebensformen eintauchen - und zwar mit (fast) allen Sinnen.
Die in Basel lebenden Künstler Till Langschied und Aebersold x Handberg haben im Ausstellungsraum Klingental eine Ausstellung konzipiert, die sich der Frage, nach uns unbekannten Lebensformen, widmet.
Sie erforschen Zwischenräume auf jeweils unterschiedliche Arten. Während Till Langschied mit Videoarbeiten und Codes experimentiert, lässt das Duo Aebersold x Handberg Sound und Licht aufeinander treffen.
Gerade die Installation von Aebersold x Handberg bietet ein Erlebnis der besonderen Art. Sound und Licht haben eine starke Wirkung auf die Besuchenden. Es ist eine Art Ganzkörpererfahrung, die einem wiederfährt.
Aebersold x Handberg:
Markus Aebersold *1988 in Herzogenbuchsee (CH) & Chris Handberg *1989 in Skive (DK) graduated their BfA together from Institut Kunst HGK Basel in 2017.
"In our installations we often create environments that resonates with spaces inside of ourselves or which we recognise in others. These environments invoke entirely different emotions even between the two of us and can vary from contemplative to anxious, euphoric to meditative or sometimes almost numinous.
Each installation tries to create its own frame of reference but a recurring topic for us is what comes before or after language. Where these environments might be seen as a manifestation of an emotion or inner space it is also exactly this space that induces a specific state or emotion onto us.
To engage with the works of Aebersold and Handberg it is important to understand the real and the virtual as two co-existing realms, with sensory experience as a bridge between them. Using light and sound to erase the border between object and architecture, subject and surrounding, the two artists create something akin to a real virtuality.
Often presented without context these "virtualities" become platforms where solipsistic and intersubjective experiences merge into something intangible, inducing almost hypnotic states.
Till Langschied:
Till Langschied is a visual artist who works in a variety of media. Originally from Frankfurt a.M., he studied at the AMD Düsseldorf and under Chus Martinez at the Institut Kunst HGK in Basel where he graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. He currently lives and works in Basel, Switzerland.
Langschied’s artistic research focusses on the relation between humans and technology. On the one hand he is interested in how human bodies increasingly merge with technology, on the other hand he investigates the metaphysics of machines and how they can be seen as more than mere objects. For him, technology and machines are the frozen hopes and dreams of humankind.
Within these topics he explores the constantly evolving relationships between virtual and analogue spaces, operating at the boundaries of these realms. He develops many of his works in digital formats and then transforms them into physical objects and installations, in order to question the agency of the virtual.

Sisters with Transistors - Pionierinnen der elektronischen Musik
Vor rund 60 Jahren bauten sich Komponistinnen eigene Maschinen zusammen, um aus blosser Luft Kunst zu machen. Ein neuer Dokumentarfilm lässt Pionierinnen wie Delia Derbyshire, Suzanne Ciani oder Laurie Spiegel zu Wort kommen.
