„River Days“ ist Teil der EP Rural Hours und bewegt sich explizit im Bereich reduzierter Folk-Exzentrik. Der Song basiert auf zurückhaltenden Gitarren, dezenten Arrangements und einer klar geführten Stimme. Die Produktion bleibt bewusst offen und lässt viel Raum, wodurch eine ruhige, fast skizzenhafte Atmosphäre entsteht. Inhaltlich und klanglich orientiert sich der Track an persönlichen Erinngerungen von Momenten, die sie in der Natur nahe eines Flusses sammelte.

“This song is a record of a single day, written that same evening, capturing the events and feelings of an early-summer day when Matt and I spent every hour by the river. We lit fires and made black coffee in the naturally worn rockpools of the stone, in the evening we cooked fresh trout and lay in the grass beds where the deer had slept the night before. I fell asleep to the sounds of the waterfalls we had stumbled across on our wanderings, and then later, in the shower, I noticed my shoulders were burned, not badly, just a small sting. Proof I had lived a little, but that would fade in a week.”

Mit „Mirjana“ aus dem Album Blumenfantasie zeigt Xylitol eine Lo-Fi-geprägte Mischung aus Electronica und Bedroom-Pop. Unsaubere Kanten, verschobene Beats und weiche Synthflächen bestimmen das Klangbild. Der Track entwickelt sich langsam und lebt von Details in der Produktion, die sich erst bei mehrmaligem Hören erschliessen oder wie Catherine Backhouse ihren Stil nennt: "Gutter Kosmische".

“When I stayed in Berlin earlier this year to play for the Planet Mu 30th Anniversary show I had a vivid flashback to my last stay in the city some 20 years earlier. I was out raving every night with a friend who was squatting in a disused flower shop; the trip was a kind of therapeutic letting go but the memory fragment that stood out to me was the GDR era signage above the front window in brown tiles embossed in beige reading ‘Blumenfantasie’ in that kind of classic 1970s psychedelic font.” 

„Spectral Spring“ stammt aus dem Release A Body of Water und ist im Ambient-Bereich angesiedelt. Statt klassischer Songstruktur stehen Texturen und Übergänge im Vordergrund. Field Recordings und flächige Sounds erzeugen eine kontinuierliche Bewegung, die weniger auf Dramaturgie als auf Atmosphäre setzt. Erschienen auf dem Milan-Label Artetetra, steht hier digitale Folklore im Vordergrund. 

"Kaloja occupies the interstice between the cosmic and the earthly, expanding its sonic life force from that point. A Body of Water ultimately feels like a folkloric ode to strange, unseen weather phenomena and distant cosmic ages."

Die Genfer-via-Paris Künstlerin Danitsa veröffentlicht ihre zweite Single für Big Dada: In „Wrong Things“ verbindet sie zeitgenössischen R&B mit Pop-Elementen. Der Track basiert auf einem reduzierten Beat und klar strukturierten Vocals, wobei hier ihre Soundsystem Roots deutlich herauszuhören sind. Zusammen mit dem niederländischen Produzenten Jarreau Vandal stellen sie sich einem zerstörerischen Mantra der Musikindustrie entgegen. 

"Danitsa wrote "Wrong Things" as a way to reclaim her artistic identity, allowing an alter ego to voice her true feelings after months of grappling with industry pressure regarding streams and expectations. She opens up about the emotional journey and intense self-doubt that inspired her new song, saying “For months, I questioned my musical future. Every meeting sent me back the same thing: not enough streams, not enough of this, not enough of that. ‘Why don't you do this? Why don't you do that?’ From hearing so much about what I wasn't, I drifted away from what I was. I started doubting, wanting to change to fit the mold. So I wrote. And in ‘Wrong Things’, my alter ego says out loud what I no longer dared to think. This song is me getting back up."
